In early 2014, over half of Taiwan’s top-ten online retailers posted positive growth of the number of products on sale. With 795,673 products, PChome Online comfortably runs ahead of the pack. Boasting 476,849 products on offer, runner-up momo shopping has now surpassed Yahoo Super Mall for the first time.
However, amidst fierce competition among the top-ten e-commerce platforms over the past year, ET Mall and Cloud-based convenience store 7net are posting high-speed growth rates in product numbers and volumes, soaring ahead as new stars in the field. Statistics show that ET Mall grew by 18.72%; when combined with U-Mall’s 1.89% growth rate, the online retailer broke the 20% growth rate barrier. Cloud-based convenience store 7net also posted a 14% growth rate in 2014H2. ET Mall and Uni-President Group are actively gobbling up market share. The big pie of the home delivery economy even spoils consumers with more options!
This year, price comparison website EZprice will introduce separate statistics and analysis of books and related products. It will scoop up information on books and related products, such as: on-the-shelf products with zero inventory in the pipeline; numbers of books of the same title but in different conditions. This will boost quantities, so to maintain uniform appraisal standards; it will compile these numbers separately.
Moreover, outside of the top-ten online retailers, ASAP Shopping, established by the end of 2013, with its benchmark-setting delivery speeds, has been performing well, and is considered a dark horse catching up with the top-ten. It is evident that, regardless of product quantities, the online retailers that teamed up with logistics partners to shorten delivery times are the ones who emerged as leading e-commerce platforms over the past year. In the future, e-commerce platforms must provide better and more excellent services and products, and even horizontal links and multi-industry alliances to provide more convenient delivery. "Show me the beef" will come to mean better beef, at cheaper prices, delivered faster than ever. Only then will customers stay or return.
